We made it. It’s the time of year when news around the NFL begins to die down and fans are left with the residual excitement from the draft and OTAs. For Buffalo Bills fans that means being able to get our first look at “Visor Josh Allen,” as well the incoming rookie class.
Josh Allen is entering the fourth year of his NFL career and is expected to once again be in conversation for MVP after having the best season of his life. There isn’t an expected drop off in performance from the offense—one that led to the AFC Championship just five months ago. But did the Buffalo Bills do enough this offseason to feel confident they can defeat the Kansas City Chiefs this time around? Anthony Marino of Buffalo Rumblings thinks a portion of Bills Mafia might be too focused on the Chiefs instead of the division. I would have to agree with him. But the concern is valid for fans who believe there isn’t a concern elsewhere around the league. Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls had to train for the Detroit Pistons. There was no other team in the NBA that had MJ’s number quite like the Pistons. Is that the case for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills?
Last season, the Buffalo Bills looked gassed and slow in comparison to the Chiefs in the Conference Championship. And while general manager Brandon Beane may have mentioned “adding speed” as a priority, the team chose to bring back all of their starters except for wide receiver John Brown. Neither the draft or free agency brought speed to Western New York. So how did they close the gap? The message is clear out of One Bills Drive: When we are the best version of ourselves “THERE IS NO GAP.”
