Play That Defined 2020 Tournament: Round Two—Home Games

The tourney begins in earnest

We’ve crowned a play to define every game of the 2020 season but we’re not stopping there. It’s time to define the entire season with a single play. It’s play vs. play as fan favorites face off! As usual, it’s the play that best defines or tells the story of the season, which might not be the best highlight.

This is our first “full round” after our lowest-seeded plays battled to get into the main tournament. We continue with the Home “Conference.” Seeding was determined by percentage of votes received in each play’s respective game (noted in parentheses).

Editor’s note: In order to vote in the polls, you will need to use a browser on your device. If you’re in a news app, you won’t be able to see the polls.

Baltimore Ravens—Taron Johnson interception (93 percent)

vs.

New York Jets—Allen to Dawson hits 300 yards (39 percent)

Spoiler: Taron Johnson pick-sixes are the first and third seed in this Conference, which is kinda wild. Can the top-rated play (in either Conference) steamroll Josh Allen hitting his first 300-yard game? It could happen, the Allen-to-Dawson-Knox connection comes in as the tenth seed, needing to beat the defense allowing a third-down conversion against the Kansas City Chiefs to get into the main dance.

Los Angeles Rams—Beasley’s first down (65 percent)

vs.

Miami Dolphins—McKenzie’s return touchdown (59 percent)

The offense flexing their muscles against the Rams goes against Isaiah McKenzie’s touchdown return. It’s Allen, Beasley, and the gang overcoming the odds to come out on top vs. the whole team (even the backups) trashing a hated foe.

New England Patriots—Zimmer forced fumble (90 percent)

vs.

Seattle Seahawks—Klein strip sack (48 percent)

It’s the battle of the depth player turnovers as Justin Zimmer’s forced fumble takes on A.J. Klein’s forced fumble! Zimmer put the finishing touches on a narrow victory over the hated Patriots. Klein enters the fray, earning its way into the tournament after swatting its competitor like Micah Hyde spiking a Hail Mary into the turf against the Indianapolis Colts. Which...happens to be the play Klein already took down.

Pittsburgh Steelers—Taron Johnson interception (77 percent)

vs.

Los Angeles Chargers—Tre’Davious White interception (56 percent)

And last but certainly not least we have the battle of the starters’ turnovers. Another amazing Taron Johnson pick-six squares off with Tre’Davious White showing off his best goalie moves to keep the Chargers at bay.
