Plays That Defined 2020 Tournament: Round Three—Away Games

Down to four in the conference

Half of the field has been eliminated and we’re down to four away plays as we seek to define the 2020 season through the lens of a single moment. As a reminder, vote for the play that best tells the story of the year, not necessarily the “best” play. Let’s get to it!

At San Francisco 49ers—Dawson Knox touchdown

vs.

At Miami Dolphins—Allen to Brown hits 400 yards

Touchdown vs. touchdown! It’s hard to go wrong here as the offensive explosion most of the season carried the Bills. Josh Allen features to some extent in both, which is fitting given his unprecedented development. Dawson Knox’s touchdown emphasizes culture with the selfless Stefon Diggs block. The touchdown to John Brown shows the degree of change as Allen breaks the 400 mark.

At New England Patriots—Stefon Diggs touchdown

vs.

At New York Jets—Tyler Bass’s record-setting field goal

Another offensive play takes on our only special teams play of the tournament. After getting the Patriots monkey off their back with a narrow victory, the Bills made a statement in the division. The Stefon Diggs explosion exemplified not only the game, but a major shift for the season. Tyler Bass setting records and taunting the Jets’ sideline speaks volumes about the kind of year 2020 was too, however.
