The Buffalo Bills drafted eight players in the 2021 NFL Draft, and with Tuesday’s news that the team has come to terms with its third-round pick, Spencer Brown, Buffalo has now signed its entire class of rookies.
Brown’s rookie contract is for four years. Brown, an offensive tackle from the University of Northern Iowa, was selected by Buffalo with the 93rd overall pick in the third round of the draft after a collegiate career that saw him start in 32 of the 33 games he played for the Panthers.
The 6’8”, 311-lb Brown earned FCS preseason All-American honors in 2020 before Northern Iowa’s season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the reasons Buffalo drafted Brown is because of the unique athleticism that he possesses. At the same time, one of the consistent critiques of Brown from scouts was how he needed time to work on his technique. Brown, the first Panther to be drafted by the Bills, appears to have an excellent chance at earning the team’s swing tackle role on game days this fall.
While the Bills won’t officially start their training camp until Wednesday, July 28, members of the rookie class customarily report to camp early. Brown and his fellow rookies are expected to report to the team’s facilities on Tuesday, meaning Brown’s signing came at just the right time as the Bills look to maximize the time they have with their rookies.
