The start of Buffalo Bills preseason football is less than three weeks away, and count me as one of the excited fans for the start of these three games this season. There is also more on defensive ends, Efe Obada, and much more in this week’s edition of Four Downs.

Bring on the preseason

The start of Buffalo Bills preseason football is roughly three weeks away, and it simply can’t get here soon enough. Maybe this offseason feels much longer than any other, or maybe it is just the divisive nature of the discussion around COVID-19 and the vaccine status of players across the league. I prefer to spend my time evaluating the snaps taken by Christian Wade, how the Bills’ rookie class performs, and how many players actually get to compete in the kick-return competition. Preseason games can’t get here soon enough.

My Bad

I took a little heat from our readers in a recent article I posted, where I neglected to include Efe Obada as an option to lead the Bills in sacks this season. It was truly an oversight on my part, as I remain hopeful that Obada makes the 53-man roster—which would make him a contender for the team lead. Rather than ignoring the oversight, I thought it was worth mentioning here.

Speaking of defensive ends

The Bills have an incredible amount of depth at the defensive end position this season. When thinking about the position, and the number of roster spots available, I struggle to see who will make the cut this year. The aforementioned Obada will likely be competing with Darryl Johnson Jr. for one of the final roster spots, in a battle that will be monitored by many fans. We should not overlook Mike Love either, who has always seemed to impress at camp each season. To read more on the defensive end group, check out the latest article from Matt Warren and Sean Murphy.

Pod of the Week

Shout out to our very own Joe Miller, who interviewed wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins earlier this week. It is a very candid conversation, and you can find the audio link here, or check out the video version below.
