Buffalo Bills sign OL Caleb Benenoch, per report

A reinforcement for the bruised offensive line depth.

The Buffalo Bills have been fortunate to avoid any drastic injuries through their first week of training camp, but the offensive line is still dealing with a rash of ailments. As a result, the Bills are signing veteran offensive lineman Caleb Benenoch, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Benenoch, who had a workout with the team on Tuesday per The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, is a 6’5” 311 pounder with experience at both guard and tackle. He started 22 games in his career, including the entirety of the 2018 season as Tampa Bay’s right guard. After three years with the Buccaneers, Benenoch was waived, and he bounced around practice squads in 2019. He spent 2020 on the New England Patriots practice squad, and didn’t appear in any NFL games with them.

The Bills are currently dealing with three unavailable starters from their 2020 offensive line. Left tackle Dion Dawkins and left guard Ike Boettger haven’t practiced yet, both being on the COVID-19 reserve list. Boettger was spotted at practice, so he may be activated soon. Jon Feliciano “tweaked” his shoulder on Monday, and is day-to-day right now working through that. Beyond those names, backup guard Forrest Lamp has been sidelined this week with an injury, and Marquel Harrell suffered a foot injury less than a week after he was signed to reinforce the OL depth.
