The Buffalo Bills playoff run starts at home this Sunday when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Highmark Stadium. Get to know the Steelers before the playoff matchup.

2023 Season Summary

The Steelers finished the regular season 10-7 and finished third in the AFC North. As the seven seed, they were the last team to get into the playoffs. Their playoff hopes were kept alive by their third starting quarterback of the season, Mason Rudolph.

Head Coach: Mike Tomlin

Tomlin is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator for one season prior to taking over the Steelers’ job. As we’ll probably hear many times, Tomlin and Bills head coach Sean McDermott were teammates at William & Mary. Tomlin has a 173-100-2 (0.633%) regular-season record and a 8-9 (0.471%) postseason record.

Interim Offensive Coordinator: Eddie Faulkner

Faulkner took over as the Steelers’ offensive coordinator after the team fired Matt Canada earlier this season. He had been the team’s running backs coach since 2019. His (and Canada’s) offense finished the regular season ranked 25th in yards and 28th in points.

Defensive Coordinator: Teryl Austin

Austin has been the Steelers’ DC for the past two seasons. He had two other stints as an NFL defensive coordinator; four seasons with the Detroit Lions and one season with the Cincinnati Bengals. His defense finished this regular season 21st in yards allowed and sixth in points allowed.
