It’s playoff season in Jerry’s World, with the Dallas Cowboys playing host to the Green Bay Packers for Super Wild Card Weekend. This season’s playoffs have given fans plenty of story lines to follow, and that continues with Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy facing off against his former team.
Who comes out on top this afternoon? We’ll all find out soon enough, and enjoy the in-between here in your open thread. Plus, I have a few thoughts to share on today’s matchup.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys, 4:30 p.m. EST (FOX)
This matchup is one of my most highly anticipated games of the weekend. The Packers, with a 9-8 record, are in Arlington, TX to face the Cowboys, who finished the season with an impressive 12-5 record. The stage is set for an exciting showdown as these two storied franchises battle it out.
The Cowboys come into the playoffs as the second seed and are brimming with confidence. Offensively, they’ve been firing on all cylinders, led by quarterback Dak Prescott who had a phenomenal season, finishing third in passing yards with 4,516 and first in passing touchdowns with 36. His favorite target has been wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who racked up an impressive 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Dallas’ offense has been explosive and efficient, and they pose a serious threat to any opposition.
However, it’s not just their offense that’s shined. The Cowboys’ defense has also been a force to be reckoned with much of the season. With 17 interceptions and eight fumbles recovered during the regular season, they have consistently been able to capitalize on turnovers and turn them into points. With a league-high five interceptions returned for touchdowns, they have proven to be a defensive unit capable of changing the course of a game in an instant.
On the other side of the field, the Green Bay Packers are coming off a three-game winning streak to close out the regular season. Leading the charge is their young quarterback, Jordan Love. Despite facing challenges such as an inconsistent offensive line and injuries to key players, Love has showcased his talent with 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He has been instrumental in guiding the Packers to secure a playoff spot and will be looking to continue his impressive form in the postseason.
While the odds may be in favor of the Cowboys, with a -7 spread and a Moneyline of -340 at DraftKings Sportsbook, it’s worth noting that the Packers have a history of success at AT&T Stadium. They are a perfect 5-0 there, including a memorable Super Bowl victory. However, it’s important to recognize that those wins came with the legendary Aaron Rodgers at the helm, and this time they will be relying on Jordan Love to lead them to victory.
The Cowboys undoubtedly have the talent and momentum coming into this game, but there’s a lingering feeling that they may fall victim to their own mistakes. The Packers have shown resilience and a knack for upsetting the odds, and the stage is set for a potential upset at Jerry’s World.
So while the Cowboys are favored to win, I can’t shake the feeling that the Packers will come out on top in this matchup. With both offenses capable of explosive plays and both defenses hungry for turnovers, this game promises to be a thrilling spectacle. All eyes will be on AT&T Stadium as the Packers and Cowboys go toe to toe in what is sure to be an unforgettable clash.
I’m confidently picking the Packers to pull off the upset: 38-30, over the Cowboys
