It is officially Week 1 of the NFL regular season, friends, and the Buffalo Bills are emphasizing that bright and early on this fine Labor Day morning in Western New York by announcing their captains for the 2014 season.
Returning captains, who have worn the 'C' for the Bills in previous seasons, include running back Fred Jackson, center Eric Wood, and defensive tackle Kyle Williams. Jackson and Williams have now been team captains for four years running, while this will be Wood's second season doing it.
Mario Williams, entering his third season with the Bills, is a team captain for the first time. He is joined by two newcomers to the team, as well, in linebacker Brandon Spikes and cornerback Corey Graham, a Buffalo native.
Jackson and Kyle Williams are two of just five Bills players that will begin the season age 30 or above. Spikes, who will turn 27 on Wednesday, is the team's youngest captain. (He is also the unlikeliest; who'd have ever thought this guy would be a captain for the Bills?)
