Score another one for Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson: free agent tailback Bilal Powell, who had been connected to the Bills in free agency, has chosen to re-sign with the New York Jets, per a Manish Mehta report.
Powell had played the entirety of his four-year career with Rex Ryan as both a runner and a special teams player, and Mehta reported earlier this week that the Jets believed Powell was leaning toward reuniting with Ryan over sticking in New York. Obviously, that is not how the situation panned out.
Instead of adding Powell and his back-end roster versatility, then, the Bills will roll, for the time being, with their current backfield quartet of LeSean McCoy, Jackson, Anthony Dixon, and Bryce Brown. It's worth pointing out that among that group, Dixon is the only player that can be considered a core special teams player.
