The Buffalo Bills are buying land to expand their footprint at One Bills Drive, according to multiple reports. This set off a flurry of speculation Wednesday, as fans thirsty for any news on a potential stadium hypothesized this was the first step in construction of a new facility. That speculation was quickly tamped down.
"[I am] told Bills have purchased some land near the Ralph with plan to expand/add practice field to better suit what Rex wants to do," tweeted John Wawrow of The Associated Press. He continued in a series of tweets to inform fans on what was actually happening.
"The new field will be adjacent to Bills current outdoor one just south of AdPro Fieldhouse. The land was purchased about two weeks ago, and it appears construction for Bills expanded practice field set to begin soon."
Wawrow ended his string of tweets with an emphatic, "chill."
Here's an aerial photo of the area to give you a better understanding of what we're talking about. The field house is in the middle, with the team's current practice field directly below. The speculation is that the open field directly south of the current field used for off-site tailgating, seen here with tire tracks, is now part of the team's complex. We'll find out more soon.
