Bills vs. Jets inactives, 2014 Week 8: Fred Jackson, Marcus Easley out

The Buffalo Bills have just two running backs dressed for today's game against the Jets, and are also missing two key special teams players, as well. The good news: Aaron Williams will play.

The Buffalo Bills will take on the New York Jets this afternoon with just two healthy running backs suited up for the contest. That's because the Bills have two more backs on today's inactives list:

  • RB Fred Jackson (groin)
  • RB Phillip Tanner (healthy scratch)
  • WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring)
  • WR Marcus Easley (knee)
  • OT Cyrus Kouandjio (healthy scratch)
  • LB Ty Powell (ankle)
  • CB Ross Cockrell (healthy scratch)

With Fred Jackson sidelined and C.J. Spiller on IR/Return, and with the just-signed Tanner not active, the Bills will have just two backs to split up the rushing workload in this contest: Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown, who is making his Bills debut today.

The absence of Marcus Easley is also notable; he'd been listed as questionable, but the special teams ace will get another two weeks to heal up and will likely return after the bye. He and Ty Powell are both big losses for the Bills on special teams.

Marquise Goodwin is missing his fourth game of the season and second consecutive with a hamstring issue. Cyrus Kouandjio has yet to dress for a game this season, while Ross Cockrell is a healthy scratch for a seventh straight week, as well.

On the flip side of things, safety Aaron Williams - who had been listed as questionable with a neck injury - is active and will play, though it would not be shocking if the team rotated him in and out of the lineup to try to keep him healthy heading into the bye.

One other lineup note: as expected, Kraig Urbik is starting at left guard, replacing rookie Cyril Richardson.
