On Wednesday, the St. Louis Rams announced that they had agreed to terms with former Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Alex Carrington on a free agent contract. It's a one-year deal, and financial terms of the pact have not yet been made public.
Carrington, a 2010 third-round pick out of Arkansas State, emerged as a starter last season and enjoyed a solid first three games of the 2013 season before a quad tear landed him on IR. The Bills sent Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus to the Pro Bowl last year, and also gave Alan Branch a three-year contract extension in December, so the writing was on the wall for Carrington's Bills future.
He becomes the third Bills free agent to depart for greener pastures this offseason, joining safety Jairus Byrd (New Orleans) and linebacker Arthur Moats (Pittsburgh). Two more Bills free agents, tackle Thomas Welch and safety Jim Leonhard, remain unsigned.
Buffalo offset those losses by signing five free agents of their own: running back Anthony Dixon, guard Chris Williams, linebackers Brandon Spikes and Keith Rivers, and cornerback Corey Graham. The team has also re-signed tight ends Scott Chandler and Mike Caussin, as well as kicker Dan Carpenter.
