Buffalo Bills sale: Scott Congel a potential owner, has stadium real estate

Scott Congel may not end up working with Tom Golisano on a Bills bid, but even if he doesn't, he's still going to pursue ownership of the team.

Buried in a story published earlier this week about Tom Golisano and his intent to pursue Buffalo Bills ownership on his own, John Kryk of the Toronto Sun reported that Scott Congel - a real estate developer that had previously been linked to Golisano - would also pursue the team.

Congel himself confirmed that news on Thursday to WKBW, saying that he is still in talks with Golisano, along with other people, about a potential partnership. The door is also open for Congel to make a run for the team on his own.

The owner of West Seneca real estate that is part of major development plans, Congel was originally linked to Golisano as a potential avenue for a new stadium in Western New York. That remains a possibility in Congel's development plan for the site, and would almost certainly factor into any bid plans he's making for the Bills.

Congel joins names like Golisano, Jeffrey Gundlach, Terry Pegula, Donald Trump, Jon Bon Jovi and Larry Tanenbaum as those reported to be interested in the team, and is also among a select group (including Trump) that have admitted as much.
