The Buffalo Bills have announced their list of seven inactive players for today's home opener against the Miami Dolphins, which kicks off in a little over an hour.
- RB Bryce Brown (healthy scratch)
- TE Lee Smith (toe)
- OT Cyrus Kouandjio (healthy scratch)
- OG Cyril Richardson (healthy scratch)
- LB Keith Rivers (groin)
- CB Ross Cockrell (healthy scratch)
- S Jonathan Meeks (neck)
Smith, Rivers, and Meeks were all expected scratches, as all three were listed as out or doubtful on the injury report.
Brown, Kouandjio, and Richardson were all healthy scratches in Week 1, as well. Brown still loses out in a numbers game, where he is behind Boobie Dixon in the pecking order thanks predominantly to Dixon's abilities on special teams. Kouandjio and Richardson are sitting while Chris Hairston and Kraig Urbik work in ahead of them as the reserve linemen; both of the veterans offer much more versatility at this point.
Cockrell is a new name to the inactive list; he was active in Week 1 while Stephon Gilmore was sidelined with a groin injury (he's back today), but did not log a snap of playing time on either defense or special teams. Ron Brooks is the fifth corner and one of the team's core specialists, so Cockrell might have a hard time making it to the active roster when all five guys in front of him are healthy.
As for the Dolphins, here's the list:
