The key word there, of course, is "voluntary," meaning that it isn't mandatory for players to journey back to Orchard Park to meet up with new Bills head coach Rex Ryan and his coaching staff, or to work out with the team's training staff.
Buffalo has the ability to start their offseason training program earlier than most other NFL clubs thanks to the aforementioned coaching change; teams with returning head coaches won't be able to start for another week or so beyond the Bills' start date.
The Bills will also be afforded the opportunity to hold an extra minicamp this spring due to Ryan's status as a new hire.
