Buffalo Bills' LeSean McCoy part of police investigation in Philadelphia

LeSean McCoy is alleged to have been involved in a February 7 bar fight in which two off-duty police officers sustained significant injuries that required hospitalization. The initial report includes details provided in the police report.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, former Syracuse and NFL running back Curtis Brinkley, and two others are the subject of an ongoing police investigation in Philadelphia, according to WPVIFOX 29CSNPhilly.com, and Philly.com reports on Monday morning.

The investigation stems from an incident at the Recess Lounge at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, February 7, in which multiple off-duty police offers suffered injuries that required hospitalization. No arrests have yet been made in the investigation, though police are reportedly seeking arrest warrants today. The investigation, per one report, is for aggravated assault.

According to the incident report, the off-duty officers had ordered multiple bottles of champagne, and a member of McCoy's group, Tamarcus Porter, confronted one of the officers and grabbed a bottle out of his hands. A shoving match ensued, with the officer being punched, kicked, and stomped in the altercation. The officers involved suffered significant injuries that required medical treatment; collectively, the list of injuries includes broken ribs, a broken nose, eye lacerations, a sprained thumb, and a possible skull fracture.

All seven men - McCoy, Brinkley, Porter, and Christopher Henderson, as well as the three officers - were immediately ejected from the club by three bouncers. No police were called to the scene, and there is no video of the altercation, as the security camera in the club was not functioning at the time. There is, however, video of the seven men being ejected. Police reports were filed after the incident occurred.

The Bills released a statement on the reports, saying only that they are aware of the incident, that they are gathering information, and that they won't be commenting further at this time. McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has declined comment to media outlets.

McCoy, 27, just finished his first season as a member of the Bills last month. He was acquired via trade from Philadelphia last offseason (and subsequently signed to a five-year, $40 million contract), and still resides in the Philly area.
