Rex Ryan promotes two offensive assistants, continues to tweak coaching staff

Two Bills offensive assistants received promotions on Thursday

The Buffalo Bills announced two minor changes to their offensive coaching staff on Monday, as Rex Ryan continues to tweak his staff as the month of April looms.

Pat Meyer, who was an "operations consultant" with the Bills in 2015, has been promoted to the title of offensive assistant. A previous report indicated that Meyer would be the Bills' assistant offensive line coach, but while he'll likely continue to assist that unit - just as he did in 2015, according to today's press release from the team - that won't be his official title.

Meanwhile, offensive quality control coach Jason Vrable has been promoted to the title of assistant quarterbacks coach. Vrable has been on the Bills' coaching staff since 2013, when Doug Marrone brought him on, but this is his first move past the quality control realm. The Bills do not list a quality control coach on either their offensive or defensive coaching staffs at present.

Here's a full rundown of the Bills' coaching staff as it stands today; with Ryan, it's entirely possible that more tweaks are on the way.

  • Rex Ryan - head coach
  • Greg Roman - offensive coordinator
  • Anthony Lynn - assistant head coach/running backs
  • Chris Palmer - senior offensive assistant
  • David Lee - quarterbacks
  • Jason Vrable - assistant quarterbacks
