This week, the Buffalo Bills hosted cornerback DeShawn Shead on a free agent visit at One Bills Drive. Following that visit, Shead returned to the Pacific Northwest to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks.
Ian Rapoport is reporting that Shead will get $1 million guaranteed of a $1.5 million contract for one year. Despite being Seattle’s number two cornerback in 2016, Shead wasn’t tendered as a restricted free agent. He suffered a torn ACL in Seattle’s playoff loss to the Atlanta Falcons and it’s expected that he will miss the start of the regular season. If he can come back healthy, he’ll likely cash in a year from now when he enters free agency again.
Buffalo’s secondary took hits all offseason as they said goodbye to cornerback Stephon Gilmore in free agency and released cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman and safeties Corey Graham and Aaron Williams. Buffalo did add CB Leonard Johnson on Friday to provide some depth.
