Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore drawing heavy interest from Chicago Bears

Looks like Gilmore will be gone.

Buffalo Bills fans’ relationship with Stephon Gilmore has been all over the place. Some like him, others hate him. Regardless of fan sentiment, he was respected enough around the NFL to garner a Pro Bowl nod in 2017 and the heavy interest of the Chicago Bears in free agency.

Alex Marvez of The Sporting News had the most definitive report on the Gilmore-Bears rumors, saying “the Bears [are] making [a] big push to sign” the Bills free agent. Other outlets including the Chicago Tribune have chimed in echoing the sentiment.

“Gilmore is 26 and has good size at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with the ability to match up in man-to-man coverage as defensive coordinator Vic Fangio likes,” writes Brad Biggs of the Tribune. “How high could the price go? Gilmore could aim north of the $12.5 million Jenkins' deal averages annually, and that would mean he could be the sixth-highest paid cornerback in the NFL. Good value? No. A necessary addition? Quite possibly.”

At that price, I think most Bills fans would be okay with letting their former first round selection walk.
