Welcome back to our weekly mailbag! This week, we answer lots of your Buffalo Bills questions, but we start with a rant on new quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey and wide receivers coach Chad Hall.
Questions this week include second-tier free agents the Bills could target this offseason, trading back in the 2019 NFL Draft, Josh Allen’s offseason plans, and which free agents we DON’T want to see Buffalo add.

Featured question of the week
“Why are you writing contract projections for crappy free agents like John Miller and Jordan Mills?”
Earlier this week, I wrote a contract projection for re-signing John Miller and Jordan Mills that was published Wednesday. I received a lot of push back for even suggesting that Buffalo might be interested in retaining either player.
The simple fact is that these guys are veterans in the NFL with starting experience. They aren’t “good” or “great” players but the majority of NFL roster players aren’t. The contracts I offered were for low-end starter money or high-end backups. Especially if the plan is to draft a rookie, I want a little insurance against a jump in competition at those spots.
I used comparable contracts from players across the league. This is what bottom-tier starters are making in the NFL at right tackle and right guard. You might not like it, but anyone you sign for a similar contract is going to bring warts of their own to the line.
Vladimir Ducasse is set to make $2 million this year. I gave it to Miller instead in my projection. Veteran guys who can be spot starters are making that much everywhere. Seantrel Henderson just signed for one year and $4.5 million with the Houston Texans. I offered Mills less than that.
Maybe folks need to readjust their thinking in terms of size of contracts or they have to realize that the state of the offensive line play around the NFL isn’t great. I don’t know.
