On the latest episode of Billieve: A Buffalo Bills Fan Podcast, host John Boccacino offers his take on the potential of defensive tackle Ed Oliver, examines how Tre’Davious White has emerged as one of the NFL’s best lock-down cornerbacks, and discusses some key positional battles to watch when training camp begins July 25.

When the Bills drafted Oliver with the No. 9 overall pick out of the University of Houston, the franchise brought in a high-impact player who should step in from day one and be a productive member of Leslie Frazier’s 4-3 defense.

Oliver addresses a MAJOR concern for the Bills, giving Frazier a disruptive and athletic defensive tackle who can get after the quarterback and cause havoc in opposing backfields.

Hall of Fame defensive tackle John Randle had high praise for Oliver and what he brings to Buffalo’s defense, telling listeners on One Bills Live that he sees plenty of similarities between his game and Oliver’s game.

During his three years with the Cougars, Oliver totaled 53 tackles-for-a-loss to go with 13.5 sacks. Oliver is that rare talent who is extremely athletic, with the requisite size, strength, and quickness needed to strike fear into opposing offensive linemen for years to come.

Changing gears to another young and talented member of Buffalo’s defense, Boccacino discusses how White has gone from a first-round talent to one of the best lock-down cornerbacks in the league.

We then close out the podcast addressing a few of the interesting positional battles in advance of training camp at St. John Fisher College, including how the running back rotation will play out, who will emerge as the No. 1 tight end, and the battle of the punters (Corey Bojorquez and Cory Carter). You know you can never get enough punter talk, right?

What do you think, Bills fans? What is Ed Oliver’s potential in Buffalo’s 4-3 defense? Just how good can Tre’Davious White be? What training camp positional battles will you be closely watching?
