Buffalo Bills "hope to sign" fullback Jerome Felton, per report

Felton is an excellent lead blocker, and Buffalo's interest in him is the latest signal that the team will be a run-reliant offense in 2015.

Add another name to the list of potential Buffalo Bills free agency targets: Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that the team is "hoping to sign" free agent fullback Jerome Felton, of the Minnesota Vikings.

Felton, who will be 29 in July, is an eighth-year pro and former fifth-round draft pick (2008) of Detroit. He enjoyed three solid seasons there from 2008-10, but really reached his pinnacle over the last three seasons lead blocking for Adrian Peterson with the Minnesota Vikings. Felton doesn't add much in the way of statistical production, but is widely regarded as one of the best blocking fullbacks in the NFL, grading out in the top six at his position at ProFootballFocus.com in each of the last three years. He also made a Pro Bowl appearance in 2012.

Buffalo's apparent interest in Felton is merely the latest signal that the offense, under new coaches Rex Ryan and Greg Roman, will be leaning heavily on the running game in 2015.
