Free agent defensive end Jerry Hughes has the opportunity to talk contract with any team in the NFL at the moment, but he is reportedly continuing to work on a deal that would bring him back to the Buffalo Bills.
Problem is, the bidding is only going to get higher, and the Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET deadline to re-sign him before he officially hits the open market is approaching quickly.
Source tells me Bills have made progress in re-signing Jerry Hughes, but both sides very aware clock ticking. Pressure rising.

After the top two pass rushers in free agency - Justin Houston of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants - were franchise tagged earlier this week, Hughes' rising stock made it more likely that he'd explore other possibilities. The fact that the Bills are still making progress on a deal at this point is encouraging, but with that deadline fast approaching, the two sides are officially in crunch time.
